Jen’s & Friends: Savannah’s Unexpected Craft Beer Bar

by · August 30, 2011

Tucked into Bull Street just off of Johnson Square, you’ll find an unexpected oasis for craft beer in Savannah: Jen’s & Friends. For the past six years, Jen’s has been Savannah’s home to hundreds of specialty martinis including such popular concoctions as the Bananas Foster Martini, the Snickers Martini – and recently the BLT Martini!

Jen's & Friends owner, Jen Burch McEvoy

On Friday, we discovered Jen’s is more than martinis, it’s a craft beer lovers dream! Hundreds of bottles line the coolers boasting such favorites as Full Sail IPA, McSorley’s Irish Stout, Terrapin, Red Hook, Samuel Adams, Dogfish Head and so many more. While Jen’s currently doesn’t offer any craft beer kegs, don’t let that deter you! The selection is tops and bar owner, Jen McEvoy tells us she’ll be rotating the selection and bringing in seasonal beer.

The atmosphere is comfortable, with a bar that runs the entire length of the room and banquettes lining a wall with small cocktail tables for couples and groups. With a capacity of 37 (yes, 37 people only), you’ll find a mix of “regulars” and tourists raising a glass together. Jen, is usually on site chatting up the crowd and mixing martinis, as well as making craft beer suggestions. Jen’s & Friends has some outdoor seating and remember – this is Savannah – you can always order your beer “to go”!

Jen’s & Friends is looking forward to welcoming craft beer enthusiasts in town for the 4th Annual Savannah Craft Brew Fest this weekend. Up next for Jen’s: a Six Year Anniversary Celebration. Congratulations, Jen!
